Bible Verses: Psalm 103: 1-3
Date: September 1st 2009
Today was the second day of school for the kids. I was tired from work. I had to take care of a phone business at costco. But my husband wanted to go out to buy some school stuff for kids. So, I stayed back and was helping the kids do their homework. My son was very fussy and did not want to do his home work. It was about writing sentences for the given words. After an hour of struggle, he still had a few words left to write. As it was getting late for supper, I tried to help him to write the sentence for the word 'sit'. I started saying 'I sit on......what?', thinking that he will say 'sofa' or 'chair'. His eyes were just focused on the roof and he was not saying anything for a few moment. Even though it was only a few seconds, it felt very long as I was expecting him to complete it quickly and move on to write the sentence for the next word.
At this point, I lost my patience and started raising my voice asking what he was doing looking at the roof. Suddenly, there came a little voice that said 'I sit on my mom's lap'. At first, I couldn't hear very well what he said. So I asked him 'what did you say?'. With his angelical smile and a little bit of shyness on his face, he said it again 'I sit on my mom's lap'. My heart melted like the ice-cream and leaped with joy. My anger and frustration vanished in a split second. All I could say was 'Oh, My Baby, Oh, My Baby' giving him lots of flying kisses. It was one of those 'cho cho' moment! I was very proud to be a mom. I was so happy to see that He remembered to say that.
Lesson I learned:
If, we, human beings can be so loving and forgiving by our kids words of praise or rememberance, how much more will God be pleased if we, His children remember and thank Him for all the things that He has done for us. David was a man of praise and prayer. He always remembered to thank God and praise His name.
In Psalms 103 he says:
1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-
3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases

Bible verse :Psalms 139: 1-4
Date: September 3rd 2009
My husband & I alternate dropping and picking up the kids on each day of the week. The general agreement is that I drop the kids on Tues & Thurs. This week I had to work on late schedule on a Wednesday and so I decided to drop the kids. My husband got delayed and ended up using the bath room right when the kids were supposed to get ready ;-(. Morning stress always upsets me and I ended up raising my voice at the kids to get ready quickly as I didn't want to miss my 8 am train. I was feeling very bad about it yesterday. Today is my turn to drop the kids again. As I got up, showered and started reading the Bible, I saw my husband in the kitchen. I was stressed again thinking that he is going to delay going into the bathroom and the kids and I are going to be late again!. Unfortunately, we can't use the showers in both the bathrooms at the same time due to water pressure problems. As I was thinking about telling him to go into the bathroom right away and finish his bath quickly, he went into the computer room. You can imagine how nervous and stressed I was!
Right at that moment, I got that little tap on my shoulder which said 'Don't say anything, just keep thanking God and pray'. Immediately, I said in my heart, 'Thank you Lord, please you take care of the situation, I am not going to open my mouth and say anything to my husband'. To my amazement, my husband turned around from the computer room before even I finished praying and went straight to the bathroom and finished his bath exactly at the same time when the kids got up. What a relief! I was thinking....how the Holy spirit turns around the situation in a matter of few milliseconds.
Lesson I learned:
When we surrender everything to God, even if it is as silly as my problem, He cares and listens and takes care of it even before we finish praying! That is the beauty of it all! Because He is "All knowing God"!. But, we have to constantly keep reminding ourselves to ask and receive His Mercies and Grace at any time, for anything and anywhere. The Psalmist describes beautifully, how God knows even our thoughts:
“O LORD, Thou has searched me and know me. Thou hast known when I sit down and when I rise up; Thou dost understand my thoughts from afar. Thou dost scrutinize my path and my lying down, and art intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, O LORD, Thou dost know it all” (Psalms 139:1-4).

Bible verses from : 1 Thessalonians, 5:16-18
Day: September 17th 2009.
Today,God taught me a valuable lesson -- Be humble and pray for everything. Since it was Thursday, it was my duty to drop the kids at school. Keren had to go to the Bell Choir practice at 7:50 am and so we rushed out of the home around 7:30 am. When I started the car, I realized that there was enough time. I thought to myself, 'Haah, I have enough time to get to the train station and there is no need to rush'. As usual, the kids prayed for the safety when I started the van. To my surprise, Keren started praying, 'Lord, help us to get to school on time and help mommy to catch the train and go to work on time'. Simeon follwed his sister and did the same. I said 'Thank you babies, but you didn't have to pray for mommy, I will have enough time to get to the train'. Usually, we get delayed and I ask the kids to pray. Today, I was so confident that I can reach on time that I didn't even need the pryer! Well...I was soooo wrong!
As we reached the school alittle early, I told the kids to wait in the car a few more minutes as the door for the classroom was locked. After a few minutes, I dropped the kids and looked at the clock and it was 7:54. It will take about 8 to 10 minutes to reach the train station. The train was at 8:06. I could still make it. As I was coming out of the parking lot, I saw about 6 to 7 cars waiting in front of me to turn into the street. This was the first time, I have seen that many cars waiting before me. Myheart started pounding....I had to wait a full 3 minutes before all ofthe cars iin front of me cleared. As I got into the street, my hope of catching the train started to fade slowly. I started to accelerate and try to over take slow cars and avoid signals by taking another street. To my dismay, I was stopped at the Amtrak train crossing. It is very rare that I have been stopped at the railway crossing. I said, 'This is it, I will miss the train'. Then, I started praying 'Lord, help me, if it is your will that I shouldn't catch the train, that is fine.'.
The train crossing gate opened quickly and I almost decided that there is no way I was going to make it and didn't rush any more. As I entered into BART and parked, I looked up and the train was still there. Then, it dawned on me that the kids prayed about it. Now, my fear was what if the train leaves before I get down and go on the escalator! Well....there was only one way! I prayed,"Dear Lord, please honor my children's prayer" and ofcourse, He did. I boarded the train and within a few seconds, the doors closed behind me. With unbelief, I looked at the big clock in the station and it was 8:07, a minute past the actual time. Uusually,the train leaves on time. Even if it is 1 minute, God made it possible for me to catch the train on time by humbling me, honoring my request and especially my kids request. He also made it clear to me that I need to rely on Him and pray about everything!
That night, during our family prayer, I confessed to the kids and told them how God taught me a lesson.
Lesson I learned :
Always pray about everything, whether it is a small or big problem. Give thanks and praise God for the situation and tell him that let everything happen according to His will.
The bible says in
1 Thessalonians 5 :
16 Rejoice always;
17 pray without ceasing;
18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
