Bible Verse : 1 Peter 2:24
Date: October 6th 2009
My kids school issued a new rule saying that parents who are volunteering at school or even for a field trip need to complete a TB test. So, I went to the lab to get the test done and waited for 20 minutes for the blood to be drawn. When my name was called, the technician greeted me, asked me to sit down and started looking for a needle. I usually tell the technician to use the butterfly needle as it is not an easy task for them to find the vein on my body to draw blood. The technician obliged, took the butterfly needle and started drawing the blood with the first tube. When she was half way through she dropped the tube or the tube fell down - I couldn't really tell what happened. She smiled and said 'Hmm...I guess the tube doesn't want to stay with me'!.
Immediately, she went on to take two more tubes and started drawing blood in the second tube. I looked down and the tube was still down. It was not broken or anything. With Curiosity, I asked her if they needed 3 tubes of blood for the test. She answered 'No, we only need 2 tubes'. I was getting a little bit irritated and asked her 'In that case, aren't you going to use the first tube that is on the floor?'. The technician replied 'No, I can't use it. It is not full. It fell down before it was full and so I can't use it'. I started to get upset thinking that she didn't even have the courtesy to say 'Sorry' and on top of it she is telling me that she is going to draw more blood! At this moment, I said with an unnatural smile on my face, 'Oh! so, you are wasting my blood!'
By this time she had completed the 3rd tube and taken the needle off of my hand. She bent down and took the tube that was on the floor and showed it to me and said, 'Well, it is not a lot....It is less than half and I can't bend to pick it up from the floor while drawing the blood'. Hearing that statement made me really angry. I was thinking, 'How dare she talks about the amount of blood being wasted, it is my blood, I need to talk to the Supervisor'. While all these thoughts were going on in my mind, suddenly, the question came to my mind - 'What about the blood that was shed on the cross?'. Immdediately, I just got up, said 'bye' to the technician and walked towards the parking lot.
As I started walking towards my van, the sadness about the cross came over me like someone was choking me. When I reached my van, tears started rolling on my cheeks. I felt like crying uncontrollably. I cried and prayed, 'Lord, please forgive me for my sins, you shed the blood for my sins and thousand 'sorry' won't be enough.'. How much blood must have run all over your body when you were struck and nailed on the cross! The calvary picture stood in front of my eyes.
Lesson I learned:
I thought to myself - I got angry because the technician wasted less than couple of spoons of my blood. How much the Father should be angry with us for wasting gallons of blood from His own son's body?! But, He didn't. He loved us so much that He sent His only son to die for us and shed blood for us. ! The bible says in 1 Peter 2:24
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Though we are Christians, we get so angry and upset when others do some mistakes and don't apologize. My prayer is that God will give me the patience to bear others mistakes and help me to show the love that He has shown on me and this world.

Be kind and Compassionate!
Daily Blessings - Kids journal
Bible Verses:Ephesians 4:32
Date April 23, 2009
Today, I had to work from home as I had to attend a meeting early in the morning to accommodate the people from the east. Usually, on Thursdays, I drop the kids and my husband picks them up from the school. Since I was home, I picked up the kids. As I was driving towards home, I noticed few birds were sitting on the street. As the cars approached them, most of the birds flew away. There was this one bird that looked like a seagull didn’t move an inch with all the 'buzzing' cars around it. My anxiety grew as I was driving closer and closer to the bird. I was hoping that the bird would fly away, but it didn’t. With the last minute decision to avoid hitting the bird, I turned my big van to the left forgetting that I was moving the car onto oncoming traffic. Thank God…There were no cars on the opposite side of the road. Once I realized my mistake, I was able to quickly straighten the van back .
I was thinking aloud ‘God, please don’t let the bird be hit'. When all these things were going on, my kids were watching from the backseats with their eyes wide open. I looked through the side mirror to make sure the bird flew away or at least not hit. But, to my amazement, it looked like the bird was still on the street somewhat limping or slowly walking. Since it was a 35 to 40 miles street, I couldn't really tell if anything happened to the bird. My daughter asked me quickly ‘Mom, did you crush the bird?’. I said, ‘No baby, but I hope the birdy is not hurt….Can you please pray for the bird?’. My son started praying immediately. He said ‘Lord, please help the birdy not to be hurt’. I thought to myself, ‘what a simple and powerful prayer’!. Before I finished my thought, My daughter started praying ‘Lord, please help the bird not to be hurt, especially if it has a nest and the little chicks are waiting for their mother to bring food , please help the birdy to go back to the chicks’. For a few seconds, I didn't know how to react to such a lovely prayer! It really brought tears to my eyes…. It touched my heart and soul! What a compassionate heart for an 8 year old…Right there, I knew in my heart that God must have heard those prayers and looked down and smiled at my kids…
Lesson I learned:
The scripture says to be kind and compassionate to one another. As far as I know, it only talks about human beings. But, my daughter went one step beyond and showed compassion for those unseen little chicks. Children are so simple minded and so loving. No wonder, Jesus told us to be like 'child like'. I like the way KJV describes
Ephesians 4:32 : And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another....
What a beautiful word 'tenderhearted'!...
