Bible verse :Psalms 139: 1-4
Date: September 3rd 2009
My husband & I alternate dropping and picking up the kids on each day of the week. The general agreement is that I drop the kids on Tues & Thurs. This week I had to work on late schedule on a Wednesday and so I decided to drop the kids. My husband got delayed and ended up using the bath room right when the kids were supposed to get ready ;-(. Morning stress always upsets me and I ended up raising my voice at the kids to get ready quickly as I didn't want to miss my 8 am train. I was feeling very bad about it yesterday. Today is my turn to drop the kids again. As I got up, showered and started reading the Bible, I saw my husband in the kitchen. I was stressed again thinking that he is going to delay going into the bathroom and the kids and I are going to be late again!. Unfortunately, we can't use the showers in both the bathrooms at the same time due to water pressure problems. As I was thinking about telling him to go into the bathroom right away and finish his bath quickly, he went into the computer room. You can imagine how nervous and stressed I was!
Right at that moment, I got that little tap on my shoulder which said 'Don't say anything, just keep thanking God and pray'. Immediately, I said in my heart, 'Thank you Lord, please you take care of the situation, I am not going to open my mouth and say anything to my husband'. To my amazement, my husband turned around from the computer room before even I finished praying and went straight to the bathroom and finished his bath exactly at the same time when the kids got up. What a relief! I was thinking....how the Holy spirit turns around the situation in a matter of few milliseconds.
Lesson I learned:
When we surrender everything to God, even if it is as silly as my problem, He cares and listens and takes care of it even before we finish praying! That is the beauty of it all! Because He is "All knowing God"!. But, we have to constantly keep reminding ourselves to ask and receive His Mercies and Grace at any time, for anything and anywhere. The Psalmist describes beautifully, how God knows even our thoughts:
“O LORD, Thou has searched me and know me. Thou hast known when I sit down and when I rise up; Thou dost understand my thoughts from afar. Thou dost scrutinize my path and my lying down, and art intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, O LORD, Thou dost know it all” (Psalms 139:1-4).
